Description
BPC 157 is a pentapeptide made up of fifteen amino acids, with a molecular mass of 1419.53552 and the chemical formula C62H98N16O22. It is known as Body Protection Compound 15 or BPC-15, and it has strong anti-inflammatory effects, helping to combat both chronic inflammation and acute. Clinical trials show it significantly improved bone fracture healing in experimental animals and promoted the repair of segmental bone defects, showing its ability to stimulate bone growth. It also aids in repairing damaged muscles like the quadriceps and Achilles tendon. It plays an essential role in regulating digestive functions and is found in the esophagus, stomach, and intestine. Additionally, it supports wound healing, stimulates the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), and covers the endothelium (the inner lining of blood vessels).
BPC 157 has been shown to significantly reduce signs of inflammatory conditions such as ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and other colon-related issues. Scientific studies have found that BPC 157 can also help alleviate signs of esophagitis.
In oral health, it decreases periodontitis, extravasation, and gingivitis in gingivio mucosal tissue while also preventing bone loss in the jaw by regulating calcium that is released from bones.
Experiments comparing cultures with and without BPC 157 revealed that the presence of this peptide led to faster growth and cell outgrowth. It also enhances cell survival beneath oxidative stress without promoting excessive cell growth.
FITC-phalloidin staining shows that it boosts the production of F-actin. This is a crucial process for fibroblast formation (important for tissue repair). Additionally, studies using Western blot techniques suggest that BPC 157 increases the activity of proteins like FAK and paxillin, which play roles in cell movement and healing.
Trials suggest that BPC 157 aids in healing colitis and can avert stomach ulcers. Research is also ongoing to explore its potential in dealing with liver injury caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
